November 17–18, 2026 | Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Let’s Help International (LHI) – Canada is preparing for a humanitarian mission to Kyaka II Refugee Settlement in Uganda, scheduled for November 17–18, 2026. This mission will bring together LHI representatives, humanitarian partners, community leaders, refugee-led organizations, and compassionate individuals who are committed to supporting refugees, displaced communities, and vulnerable children.
The mission is part of LHI’s ongoing commitment to seeing, supporting, and empowering refugees and displaced communities through education, advocacy, humanitarian assistance, and community-based partnerships.
Why This Mission Matters
Refugee communities continue to face significant challenges, including limited access to education, basic necessities, livelihood opportunities, and other essential services. Children and families living in refugee settlements are particularly vulnerable and often require sustained support from humanitarian organizations, community partners, and individuals.
Through this mission, LHI seeks to strengthen relationships with refugee communities and local organizations while learning directly from refugees about their experiences, needs, priorities, and aspirations.
The visit will also provide an opportunity to connect humanitarian efforts in Canada with the realities and priorities of refugee communities in Uganda.
Planned Activities
During the November 17–18 mission, the LHI Canada delegation plans to participate in several activities, including:
1. Meetings with Humanitarian Stakeholders
LHI will meet with humanitarian actors and other stakeholders working in and around Kyaka II Refugee Settlement. These discussions will focus on understanding the current humanitarian situation, identifying areas of collaboration, and exploring opportunities to strengthen support for refugee and displaced communities.
2. Dialogues with Refugee-Led Organizations
A key priority of the mission is to listen to and engage with refugee-led and community-based organizations.
LHI believes that refugees should not only be recipients of humanitarian assistance but also active leaders and partners in shaping solutions that affect their communities. The mission will create space for dialogue about the work being done by refugee-led organizations, the challenges they face, and opportunities to strengthen their capacity and leadership.
3. Meetings with Refugee Leaders
The delegation will engage with refugee leaders and representatives to hear directly about the priorities and concerns of the community.
These conversations will help LHI better understand the realities facing refugees and identify practical ways to support community-led initiatives.
4. Visits to Schools Supported by LHI
Education remains one of LHI’s key areas of focus. The delegation plans to visit schools supported by LHI and learn more about the experiences of children, teachers, and school communities.
The visits will provide an opportunity to assess educational needs, celebrate progress, and explore ways to expand support for children and schools.
5. Visits with Sponsored Children and Their Families
The delegation will also visit children who are supported through LHI’s sponsorship initiatives and meet with their families.
These visits will help strengthen the connection between sponsors and the children they support while providing an opportunity to understand the children’s educational and family needs.
6. Advocacy Meetings with Government Officials
LHI plans to engage relevant government officials to discuss issues affecting refugees and displaced communities.
The advocacy meetings will focus on strengthening collaboration, promoting inclusive policies, and identifying opportunities to improve access to education, protection, and other essential services.
7. Delivery of Gifts and Educational Materials
As part of the mission, LHI hopes to deliver gifts and educational materials to children and families in the refugee community.
These items may include educational supplies, children’s books, toys, shoes, clothing, food, and other essential non-food items.

Individuals and organizations interested in joining the delegation are encouraged to contact LHI as early as possible so that appropriate planning and arrangements can be made.

2. Donate Gifts and Humanitarian Supplies
You can also support the mission by contributing financially toward the purchase of gifts and humanitarian supplies that will be distributed to refugee children and families.
Donations may help provide items such as:
- Food and essential supplies
- Children’s clothing
- Shoes
- Toys
- Books
- School bags
- Educational materials
- School supplies
- Other essential non-food items
We also welcome organizations and individuals who would like to organize in-kind donations of toys, shoes, children’s supplies, and educational materials that can be transported to Uganda as part of the mission.
Every contribution, whether large or small, can help bring hope and dignity to a refugee child or family.
